31 Days of Horror Movies: Day 13

31 Days of Horror Movies

Day 13 | The Conjuring (2013)

We talked about this movie on day 4 and day 12 and I felt it was about time it got its own day! I mentioned that this movie has the same producer as Insidious andThe Purge. However, I feel like the most important person to note with this film is James Wan. He has directed a number of the most successful horror movies in the 21st century like Saw (2004) and Insidious (2011).

I also mentioned Lorraine Warren of Ed and Lorraine Warren who were the lead investigators for the Amityville Horror case. The cool thing about this movie is that it was based on a real case that the Warrens worked on and the family and Lorraine both were very supportive of the movie (read more on that here atHistory Vs Hollywood).

As far as the scariness goes, it builds so well and then I guess I was expecting some Hollywood “final boss” super scary ending but something about it kind of felt like it ended a little flat. But boy, it has some scary points. Definitely worth watching!

Also, it’s worth noting that the movie is meant to get a sequel called  The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist to be released  June 10, 2016.
